Electina is a hardwoking mother of two boys, aged 20 and 7. She left her home country for Nairobi when her eldest son was just 3 years old, in search of better opportunities. Initially employed at a tailoring shop, she saved diligently for seven years before launching her own tailoring business.
Starting a new venture while being the sole parent to her children was challenging, but returning to her village was not an option. As a general tailor, she realized that the demand for school uniforms was a lucrative yet demanding niche that required her focus. To succeed, she needed both capital and skills to cater to high-value clients in schools and churches.
How did she join 4GC, and what has her journey with Adams' office been like?
In her quest for knowledge, business mentorship, and financial support, Electina joined 4G Capital in 2021. Following an appraisal, she qualified for a loan of $100, which she received the same day. She was thrilled to find a team of professionals who have been integral to her business growth journey. She credits her success to various training sessions she attended, including customer service, debt management, and savings. Since joining, her business has flourished, allowing her to meet market demands while maintaining a healthy balance between her business responsibilities and personal bills. She has taken a total of 55 loans so far.
Currently, Electina can fulfill orders from both wholesale and retail customers while supporting her family, especially in paying for school fees. She is saving to open another outlet within the next year, where her son will manage the operations, as he is training in tailoring alongside his studies. She firmly believes that 4G Capital will help her achieve her dreams and has committed to fulfilling her loan obligations.
Featuring in the Christmas carol?
We invited Electina to participate in the Christmas song as she is one of our loyal customers at the Adams branch. At that time, she was facing personal challenges, but she was thrilled that 4GC valued her and could not refuse the opportunity. “I was anxious but also looked forward to the day.”
On the recording day, despite having orders to fulfil, she worked through the night to ensure she could participate in this special event.
“At the studio, I felt nervous at first, but the team made everything so easy for me. It was like the therapy I didn’t know I needed.”
To top off the experience, the 4GC team surprised her with wonderful gifts, leaving her feeling humbled.
What does the Christmas season mean to you?
As a child, Christmas was about enjoying special foods like chapatis and meat. Now, as an adult, it symbolises gratitude, sharing what little you have with those less fortunate, and celebrating the gift of redemption through the birth of Jesus Christ.
What is your Christmas message/parting shot?
“Lighten up, be thankful for life and the people around you. Share whatever you have even if it is just a smile 😀 😀 Thank you 4G for ‘seeing me’.”
